Project Overview: Â Â
Village Enterprise and HereWeGrow are partnering to address the interwoven challenges of poverty, gender inequity, and climate vulnerability facing smallholder coffee farmers in Ethiopiaâs Keffa Zone.
HARVEST - Households Advancing Resilience, Value chains, and Sustainable Transformation is a three-year, integrated project to address the poverty cycle in coffee producing small holder farmers in Gimbo and Shisho Ende districts of Keffa Zone. Â
The proposed project combines Village Enterpriseâs proven 12-month poverty graduation modelâ including seed capital grants, business and financial literacy training, mentoring, and savings groups with tailored climate-smart agriculture (CSA) and market linkage interventions.
This integrated model will be delivered to households living in extreme poverty in the coffee-growing Keffa Zone.
The project will train 8,100 entrepreneurs to launch 2,700 small businesses, enabling households to improve coffee quality and yields and increase and diversify incomes, ultimately lifting 52,000 individuals from poverty. Â

Job Description
Core Roles (What you will do)
- Find Respondents: Walk through the community to find and map the specific people or households we need to interview.
- Conduct Interviews: Talk to people and ask survey questions exactly as written.
- Record all answers accurately on a tablet or phone. Experience with Taro Works or similar apps is a big advantage.
- Use the device to mark the exact location (GPS) of every interview and note down important things you see.
- Introduce yourself and the team to the community. Explain why we are doing the survey in a way that is easy to understand.
- Make sure every person understands the survey and agrees to take part (informed consent) before you start.
- Correctly translate questions from English into the local language so the meaning stays the same.
- Review all your data at the end of the day to fix mistakes and sync (upload) it to the system.
- Help with other data collection tasks when the supervisor asks.
Safeguarding - "Safeguarding at Village Enterprise is everyoneâs responsibility and it begins with me"
- Continuously sensitize program participants on safeguarding.       Â
- Ensure compliance with Village Enterprise safeguarding policies. Â
- Report any incident of safeguarding in program operations for appropriate action/follow up.  Â
Other tasks and responsibilities
- Promoting teamwork relating to roles and responsibilities in the organization.
- Maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide verbal and written progress activity reports on processes and challenges.
- Responding to any clarifications relating to surveys.
- Ensure the safety of all data collection equipment and machinery.Â

- You must be able to speak the local languages used in Kaffagna  fluently.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a diploma in any discipline with prior experience/exposure in research disciplines is an asset.
- Understanding of the elements of data quality. Prior experience in data collection using mobile technology would be an added advantage.
- Preference will be given to candidates staying within Shisho Inde and Gimbo Woredas.
- You must attach an introductory letter from your Kebele Chairperson.
- This letter must be stamped and include a working telephone number.
